I am honored to serve as the Burlingame Jr/Sr High School Principal. I have been an educator for the past twenty-two years. I have been a math teacher, a coach of numerous sports, an assistant principal and a principal. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Emporia State University with an emphasis on secondary Mathematics. I also earned my Masters of Science degree in School Administration and another Masters of Science Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Emporia State. I played varsity Basketball while attending Butler County Community College, The University of Missouri Kansas City and Emporia State University.
I am a student’s first administrator and I try to do what it takes to help students be successful. I believe that positive relationships are the key to building successful students. I follow the growth mindset and the idea that people always can improve if they want to and put the effort into it. As principal, it is my job to help students and staff to achieve this growth.
I am married to Teresa Markos since 2000 and have two children: Kiersten and Kristopher. Kiersten is a Freshman at Ottawa University in Ottawa Kansas and is on the women’s basketball team. Kristopher is a Junior at Gardner Edgerton High School. Teresa works for the Johnson County Department of Corrections where she runs and supervises the House Arrest Department
